Day 5: Cosplay Prom with Brandy

So the Thursday before Brandy BEGGED me to go with her. I begged my mom to let me go which she did. That Saturday, I had to hitch a ride with them to get there. It was actually a Comic Fest and a Cosplay Prom but we had the most fun at the prom. The two of us dressed up as ninjas, along with most of the other people who were there. Afterwards, Brandy and I decided to go to a movie but we didn't know what was showing so we hung out at her house for the entire afternoon. We went to see a movie and after the movie we had to wait 30 minutes for her mom and her grandma to get out of the movie they went to see. And during the wait Brandy and I "broke" into their car (the doors were unlocked) and we got Brandy's ipod, my notebook and pen, and we started writing down ideas for a story with a ninjas as the main theme. But on the way from Brandy's house and the Food Lion, from the Food Lion to the movie theater, and from the theater to my house, Brandy and I were lip syncing and dancing in the backseat.

The two of us had WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, way too much fun!

Sorry for the break I don't really have an excuse why I haven't posted in awhile *cough month cough*
But anyway I wanted to share that I will be co-authoring with my friend Brandy a comic/story about these two girls who go on a dare and get caught up in a ninja clan war. Sound interesting? Would you at least glance over the pages? It should be a lot of fun for both of us. It may end up, if it becomes a comic, that she writes the script and I draw the comic. And if it doesn't then it's still okay.

So...I'm knitting again

Allow me to back up to 2008.
We moved to where we live now. We joined a knitting group. I started knitting a hat. I used LionBrand Homespun. Any knitter, crocheter, or crafter probably knows how difficult it is to see with that yarn, it's so fuzzy. Well, I didn't. I was going and I thought I was nearing the end so I started to end the hat. And then I recounted my rows and I was NOWHERE near the end. I tried to fix it by going back...but I ended up cutting the yarn, throwing the ruined hat in the trash and giving my aunt the leftover skein.

Now let's zoom to 2010.
I pulled out one of my knitting books to see if there were any patterns I was willing to suffer through translating it to crochet. I found a couple but I never translated them.

Zoom to 2011.
I decided to try knitting again. So I cast on 20 stitches. And tore them out. I casted on 20 stitches using a different method. and tore them out. I probably casted on 6 different way before I pulled out a crochet hook, chained 20 and picked up the stitches.

So I can knit and purl but I can't cast on. I sense that being a problem later.

But I plan on trying that hat that threw me off knitting again. BUT not in Homespun.

Please keep Tuscaloosa, Alabama in your prayers. A horrible tornado ripped through and took away so much. 15 fatalities were recorded today but there may be more. I used to live there and, thankfully, no one I knew was hurt. A tae kwon do studio that I went to occasionally to was destroyed along with a Big Lots, a BBQ, a pawn shop, and a CVS. Again, keep Tuscaloosa in your prayers.

EDIT: The Tae Kwon Do studio was damaged but not destroyed! YAY!

EDIT: The Tae Kwon Do studio's roof caved in. They saved to important papers, gear, most of the photos that had hung on the wall. Unfortunately they were not able to save the sound/media system and expensive boom box, they were stabbed with roof supports or crushed with the boxing bag. The students and instructors were relocated to the Northport and South Tuscaloosa locations.

The studio was destroyed.

Beginnings

So I have a new blog. This one is about me and my wonderfully crazy life. I should probably say a few things about myself. My name is JulieAnn. I just turned 16. I have crazy friends. I write. I read. I am constantly looking at wickedly awesome swords. I have a crush on ****** *******. I also have a crush on ********* **** but of when he was in Newsies and no I will not tell you who he played. I crochet. I will end up repeating all this in my next post so I'm wondering why I'm even bothering typing all this.
